Course Description

ECO 209 is an intermediate course in macroeconomics. The course analyzes basic models to explain how the price level, the interest rate and the level of output and employment are determined. The topics covered are long-term economic growth, short-term business cycle fluctuations, unemployment and economic policy.

Prerequisites

This course will cover topics using the basic tools of microeconomics. Therefore, ECO 207 (Intermediate Microeconomics) is prerequisite. Also you are strongly recommended to have the degree of mathematical maturity in Calculus.

Requirements and Grades

Your grade will determined by two midterm exams (25% each), one final exam (30%), and several quizzes (20%). Throughout the course you will be given 11-12 quizzes (depending on the schedule) in your recitation section. The quizzes include all material but most of its content will be similar to the problem set which will be assigned every week and reviewed in the recitation section. Therefore you should try to do all the problems and attend the recitation sections where quizzes are given. When computing your grade, I will only consider 7 best quizzes you took.
Please note: There are no makeup exams.
