Second Year
- Field and Distribution Courses:
- Register for 2 field courses and 2 distribution courses
- Prepare for qualifying exams in two fields
- Complete MA program of study
- Last Two full weeks of July :
- Qualifying exams in two fields
Third Year
- September
- Register for ECO 493 - Master's Essay and for selected Workshop(s)
- TA for Fall/Spring
- Throughout Year
- Research and write Third-Year Paper
- Last Working Day of May
- Submit Third-Year Paper signed by your advisor
Fourth Year
- Fall:
- Register for remaining workshops to complete 90 credit hours
- Fall/Spring:
- Register for ECO 997: Doctoral Dissertation - include advisor's name
- Optional : TA for Fall/Spring
- September 15:
- Submit Dissertation prospectus 3-10 pages, signed by 2 professors
- Summer:
- Prepare your resume for the Job Market, network, and review job descriptions.
Job Market Year
- Register for ECO 999 : Doctoral Dissertation - include advisor's name
- September: Introduction Job Market meeting
- October: Submit resume and abstract for Job Market Brochure publication.
- November: Mail out job market packets.
- January: Attend ASSA (Allied Social Science Associations) [AEA] meetings
- Spring: Continue job market activities more intensely, thesis defense
