Economics Ph.D. Program: Application Instructions for Graduate Admissions and Financial Aid
Applications consist of the following parts:
- Online Application Form.
- Official transcripts.
- Official copies of GRE scores not more than 2 years old. The GRE general exam is mandatory.
- Official copies of TOEFL scores for applicants whose native language is not English.
- Three letters of recommendation. A printable form is provided within the online application for distribution. Please be sure the letters are sent directly to the department. There is no electronic submission of letters of recommendation at this time.
Official copies of the GRE and TOEFL scores will be sent directly to us if, when ordering the
reports, you specify
- the University of Rochester code 2928,
- the Economics department code 1801 for the GRE scores , and/or code 84 for TOEFL.
- The GRE general exam is mandatory.
- All reports must arrive by the January 2 deadline to be included in the application.

residents of the U.S. should click here for
